Evelyn Mae Novington, 97, of Steubenville, OH, passed away Friday January 11, 2013 at Tygart Center Fairmont, WV.

A daughter of the late William and Florence Ellen (Jones) Carter, Evelyn was born October 22, 1915, in Bergholz, OH.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, James Wensel Novington; brothers, Eugene and William Carter; and sister, Juanita Carter.

Evelyn was a member of Labelle View Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school and a member at First Christian Church.

She is survived by five daughters, Tania (Dr. Julian) Gasataya of Lumberport, WV; Carole (Bill) Smith of Steubenville, Sonja (Don) Richardson of Steubenville; Cheryl Shepherd of Steubenville; and Lauren (Herbert) Hess of Fairmont, WV; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; two brothers, Donald Carter of Georgia and Dale (JoeAnna) Carter of Canton, OH.

Friends will be received on Wednesday at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home 685 Canton Rd., Wintersville from 11 AM until time of funeral services at 2 PM with the Reverend Gene Carter officiating.

Burial will follow at Ft. Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville.

She had resided at Tygart Center in Fairmont, WV for the past one and half years under the guidance of her youngest daughter Lauren. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Tygart Center for the loving care their mother received.
