Rebecca Lou Ward, 72, of Wintersville, Ohio passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024 (Easter Sunday). She died peacefully at home, secure in the care and love of her family. Her death was due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Becky was born November 30, 1951, in Steubenville, Ohio. She was a daughter of the late Thomas Albert and Edith Cooper of Follansbee, West Virginia. In the first years of her marriage, she lost a son due to an ectopic pregnancy.
Becky graduated Follansbee High School in 1969, earned a B.S. degree from West Liberty State College in 1973, and a M.S. degree (hematology specialty) from the University of Pittsburgh in 1985. She retired in 2018 from Trinity Health System, working 44 years as a certified medical technologist at both Ohio Valley Hospital and St. John Medical Center. Becky was very proud of her efforts as a health care professional and truly enjoyed people she helped, met, and worked with throughout her life.
Becky enjoyed traveling, making crafts, and especially shopping with her family or friends. Most of all she simply wanted to be at home with her husband, daughter, and pets. She was a member of Crossroads Christian Church.
Becky is survived by her husband of almost 38 years, William Michael Ward and daughter Lindsay Rebecca Ward, both of Wintersville. She also leaves behind her loyal dogs Marty and Zoey, and loving cats Louie and Figgy. In addition, she is survived by her sister Linda J. (Richard) Kimble of Hopedale, Ohio.
Family and friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Road, Wintersville, Ohio, on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 11:00 am until services at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Toronto Union Cemetery, Toronto, Ohio.
