Mr. Charles William "Chuck" Young, 79, of State Park Road, Richmond passed away on Thursday, 20 June 2019, at Valley Hospice in Steubenville, Ohio from several health complications. He will always be remembered and sadly missed as a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather.
He was born 23 February 1940, in Steubenville, the son of the late Frank William and Sarah Edna (Kempton) Young of Maple Lake, Richmond. In addition, he is preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Charles was a 1958 graduate of Jefferson Union High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a Christian and member of the Richmond United Methodist Church. He retired from First Energy's W. H. Sammis Power Plant in Stratton as a control room operator.
He was an expert tinker, inventor, and jack-of-all-trades. An introvert by nature, he was not big on small talk or crowds, but he could sure tell a story or two when you got him by himself…in more detail than you probably wanted…but fascinating nonetheless.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jane (Brown) Young; a son, Steven (Fritzie) Young of Huntsville, Alabama; a daughter, Beth Ann (Todd) Hayden of Prospect, Pennsylvania; and two grandchildren, Ryan and Shane Hayden.
Family and friends will be received Thursday, 27 June (4-8 p.m.) at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main St. in Richmond, where funeral services will be held on Friday, 28 June at 11 a.m. with Pastor Byron Bufkin officiating. Burial will follow at the Richmond Union Cemetery.
