Gladys Jean (Bake) Francis, 94, of Bloomingdale, OH, passed away February 2, 2018 at Sienna Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Wintersville.
She was born February 22, 1923, near Unionport, OH, a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Matilda (Lewis) Bake. She was raised by her grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Bake, and Uncle William Bake.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Ott Francis whom she married June 24, 1940. Her sons Larry and Dana Francis and a granddaughter, Michelle Whiteman; brother, Leonard Dean Bake; half-brother, Wayne Bake; and half-sister, Carol Bingle.
She made custom made draperies for Collart and Sears. She tutored adult education classes at Jefferson Community College.
She was a member of the Wintersville Seventh-Day Adventist Church where she played theorgan for over 50 years.
Gladys Jean is survived by her son, Marion (Terri) Francis; daughters, Mary Ellen (Bob) Miller, Sonja (Mike) Whiteman all of Bloomingdale, and Roxie (Grayson) Middleton of New Alexandria; grandchildren, Tammy (Jeff) Turnbull, Tim (Malinda) Miller, Michael (Tonya) Whiteman, Lisa (Robert) Kuester, Shelley (David) Grafton, Greg (fiancée, Tiffany) Francis, Melissa (Todd) Yunker, Shannon (Ben) Schilling, and Andrea (Joe) Gallon; great grandchildren, Chrystal (Jeff) Day, Chelsea (LeRoy) McCourt, T.J. (Lachelle) Miller, Josh Turnbull, Victoria (fiancé, Brandon) Turnbull, Taylor (fiancée, Kaitlyn) Grafton, Nathan Grafton, Casey Kuester, Preston and Parker Schilling, Daniel, Jordan, and Madelyn Francis, Clarissa Whiteman, Macayla and Jaxon Gallon; and great-great grandchildren, Levi and Gracie McCourt, Noah and Lexi Day, Emily Turnbull, Brantley, Bentley, and Bradley Miller.
Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 W. Main St., Richmond on Monday from 10 AM until time of funeral services at 12 Noon with Pastor Loren Seibold officiating.
Burial will follow at East Springfield Cemetery.
