Ian Cornish Obituary

Ian William Cornish, 15, of Richmond, OH, passed away September 29, 2018 at his home after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

He is preceded in death by his Grandmother Helen (Deanie) Cornish who is now watching over him and holding him in her loving arms. He will be deeply missed by his parents; Sonja and Erick Lancaster (Mama and Papa Bear), and Jerilynn Cornish and Laura Henderson of Toronto, an amazing brother; Sammy, grandparents; Samuel and Kathy Gill of Richmond, Gerald R. Cornish, Jr. And Gloria Boley of Toronto, and Darla Furbee of Canonsburg, great grandmothers; Mary Steitz of Bergholz and Betty Gill of Toronto, aunts and uncles; Jennifer and Jake Swickard of Toronto, Samantha and Elliott Hellock of Steubenville, Michelle and Mike McConnell of Pennsylvania, Chad and Brandy of Moundsville, Michelle and John Kemis of Canonsburg, and Marga and Rob Kulpa of Wheeling, his cousins; Devin Gill, Erica Weingart, Jarred and Zachary Vojvodich, Jenna and Jason Swickard, Katie and David McConnell, Dawson Lancaster, Noah, Piper, and Alyvia Kemis, Josephine Kulpa, and his very special friend; Teresa.

Ian was born on November 15, 2002 and even though his time here may have been short, he taught those around him to appreciate life’s little gifts; new boxes of crayons, handy dandy notebooks, bubbles, Power Puff Girls, balloons, and lots of mac and cheese. He knew that the most important thing in life is the people we love and who love us.

His life will be celebrated at a memorial service which will be held at Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 W. Main St., Richmond on October 5, 2018 from 4 PM until time of funeral services at 6 PM with Pastor Georgette Gaston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital.

Ian’s parents would like to express their deep appreciation for all of the prayers and support given to them during this difficult time by their family, friends, and their community. A special thank you to Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital staff and doctors and to Valley Hospice for the kind and compassionate care they have shown to Ian. Memorial contributions can be made to www.leiaskids.org
