J. Ray Mallernee, 91, of Bergholz, Ohio, passed away Friday, August 11, 2017 at St. Luke's Lutheran Home in North Canton, Ohio.
He was born November 16, 1925 in East Springfield, Ohio, a son of the late Ralph and Marie (Flenniken) Mallernee.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Kathleen (Davis) Mallernee; a son, D. Bruce Mallernee who preceded him in death in 1998.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Deborah Mallernee; two granddaughters, Kierston (Adam) Hobaugh and Mylissa (George) Stout; two great-granddaughters, Myka Marie Hobaugh and Nora June Hobaugh; sister, June Freas, two brothers, Dual Mallernee and Earl (Patricia) Mallernee; sisters-in-law, Jacky Hendricks and Harriet Davis; brother-in-law, Bob (Barbara) Davis; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia (Ed) Channels; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe (Mary Louise) Bendle; sister-in-law, Donna Mallernee; brother-in-law, Ray Hendricks.
Ray was a former auctioneer and retired from First Energy (W.H. Sammis Plant) in Stratton, Ohio in 1988. He formerly served on the Bergholz Village Council and Board of Public Affairs. He was a member of the Annapolis Grange and Salineville Masonic Lodge #348 F.&A.M. He was a member of the Bergholz Church of Christ where he served as a deacon.
Services will be held today at St. Luke's Lutheran Community Chapel at 10 a.m. Gravesides services will be held Monday, August 14, 2017 at Bergholz Cemetery at 1 p.m.
