James W. Marquis, 78, of Richmond, OH, passed away September 6, 2018 at his home with his wife by his side.
He was born January 12, 1940 in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late Harry J. and Mary E. (Frankhauser) Marquis.
James retired from the Cross Creek Township Police Department. He retired as a welder for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. James recently worked for Advanced Auto Parts in Steubenville.
He was two term Past Grand Knight for Wintersville Knights of Columbus #472. James was also Past President of the F.O.P. Lodge #97.
James was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Alice L. (Chappell) Marquis who he married on August 20, 1960; son, James J. (Megan) Marquis; daughter, Christine M. Marquis; siblings, Michael “Mick” Marquis, Geri (Tim) Szendersky, Harry “Slug” (Susan) Marquis, Marsha (Don) Schroeder, William “Billy” Marquis all of Toledo, OH, and Robert (Susan) Kain of Tennessee; grandchildren, Shelbi, Sadie, Lucas, Olivia, Tia, and Cece; and his best friend, Ronnie Haines.
A funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Thomas Magary as celebrant.
Entombment will follow at Ft. Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville.
