Richard Applegarth

Richard Edward Applegarth Jr., 76, of Richmond, OH, passed away comfortably at home on January 4, 2020.
Richard was born in Steubenville, OH, on April 25, 1943.  He was a proud 1961 graduate of Steubenville High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army.  He then worked for National Steel/Weirton Steel and retired after 37 years of service.
Richard "Dick" was known for being hardworking, generous, and for being the life of any party.  He loved rooting for the Pittsburgh Pirates, strumming and singing old songs around the campfire, and reminding everyone around him to "shoot the lock off" and enjoy life.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Edward Sr. and Velma Applegarth; sisters Nora and Dixie; and a brother, Bruce.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Louanne (Faulkner) Applegarth; son Richard (Jennifer) of Las Vegas, NV; daughter Emily (Doug) Brunker of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; son Brian (Jennifer) of Richmond, OH; and grandchildren, Kyle and Kirsten Applegarth.  Also surviving are his brother Ron (Patti) Applegarth; and sisters, Velva Buckmaster and Judy Dugan.

Family and friends may call at Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd, Wintersville, OH, on Tuesday, January 7 from 3-5 p.m.  A memorial service will follow at 5.
