Vish Wisnieski Obituary

John R. “Vish” Wisnieski, 78, of Steubenville, passed away Wednesday April 24, 2019 at Trinity West.

He was born on July 12, 1940, son of the late Stella and Jacob Wisnieski.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, John S. (Junior) Wisnieski in 2012; brother, Stanley Wisnieski; three sisters, Genevieve Bailey, Elizabeth Barker, and Theresa Canella.

Throughout his lifetime he worked for Canella Brothers, U.S. Postal Service, and Wilson Avenue Carry-Out. He also played softball for the post office, served as volunteer basketball coach for Lincoln Lions for 20 years.

 He served his country in the United States Navy in 1960 on the U.S. Independence in Norfolk, VA. Vish also had the first integrated singing group called “Vish and the Winds”. He enjoyed Oldies, Doo Wop, and Motown music. His favorite song was “My Girl” by the Temptations.

Vish enjoyed watching Westerns, golf, pro and college football. His favorite program was the “Sopranos”. He was an avid Big Red football fan, Green Bay Packers, and also a Duke fan.

Surviving is his life companion, Olivia “Libby” Wisnieski; son, Michael J. “Wiz” (Jennifer) Wisnieski of Steubenville; brother, Frank (Carol) Wisnieski of Wintersville; sister, Rose Colaiacovo of New Jersey, formerly from Wintersville; brother, Walter (Pat) Wisnieski of Virginia; brother-in-law, Robert Kozick from Las Vegas; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd., Wintersville on Monday from 4 - 7 PM.
