BETTY LOU SCOTT, 74, of Richmond, OH, died August 20, 2006 at the Valley Hospice Pallative Care Unit, Steubenville following a long battle with Parkinson's Disease and it's complications.
She was born March 2, 1932 in Nicut, WV, the daughter of the late David Hall and Hazel (Kendell) Hall who lives in Akron and is celebrating 96 years of an active life. Betty was the 3rd child in a family of 11 children.
Betty graduated from East Fairmont High School in West Virginia in 1950. After graduation, she moved to Ohio to find work where she met and married Carl G. Scott March 22, 1951. The celebrated 55 years together.
She was an active member of the Two Ridges Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, serving as an elder and Sunday school teacher for many of those years. She was a member of the sunset Lake Homemaker's club and the Orange Rebekah Lodge of Dellroy, OH. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society sewing pads and wrapping bandages until they no longer were used. She was a Chaplain for the Ohio 1 Serro-Scotty Campers Club and served as their President. Betty loved to knit and write poetry and won many awards and had several of her poems published.
In addition to her mother Hazel and husband Carl, Betty is survived by their four children and their spouses: Cheryl and LeRoy Hoover of Virginia Beach, VA, David Scott of Carrollton, Debra and Kevin Young of Mingo Junction, and Lisa Breuer of Sachse, TX. Grandchildren Mark and Shawn Hoover, Brad and Cindy Scott, Natalie Scott, LouAnn Wells, Evie Wilson, Adriana Breuer, and great-grandchild Alexis Wells complete the family. Also surviving are sisters Wilma Fulks, Clara Hart, and Linda Hall and brothers Jack and Richard (Jake) Hall. In addition to her father, David, she is preceded in death by brothers James, Joseph, David (Junior), Jerry and Johnny Hall.
Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main St., Richmond Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. There will be a visitation at the Two Ridge Presbyterian Church, St. Rt. 43, Wintersville, Wednesday from 9:30 until 10 AM. Betty's funeral services will be at the Two Ridge Church at 10 AM Wednesday with the Reverend Wendy Norris officiating. Burial will follow in Ft. Steuben Burial Estates.
