Calvin A. Pethtel,Sr.,88 of Richmond, Ohio passed away Wednesday, September 02, 2009 at Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville. He was a retired farmer and steelworker at Weirton Steel and was Methodist by faith. Calvin was born July 10, 1921 in St. Mary's, West Virginia, a son of the late Edward and Blanche Delong Pethtel. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Rose Marie Casagranda Pethtel in 2003, four brothers Claude, Saul, Marion, and Art Pethtel, a sister Virginia Boone. He is survived by two sons, Calvin (Tyra) Pethtel of East Springfield and John (Odessa) Pethtel of Richmond; two daughters, Marie (Walter) Mader of Bloomingdale and Rosemary (Jeff) Brenenstall of Richmond; two brothers Earl (Beverly) Pethtel of Bergholz and Zed (Erma) Pethtel of Marietta; six sisters, Emma Dotson of Marietta, Nan Francis of Weirton, WV, Ada Mae Pethtel of East Liverpool, Blanche (Mike) Loy of Steubenville, Letha McCombs of New Cumberland, WV, and Madawn Paul of Wintersville; thirteen grandchildren. A private memorial service and internment will take place at the convenience of the family at East Springfield Cemetery.
