CHARLES R. CHRISTOPHER, 79, of Richmond, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord while surrounded by his loving family at his bedside Monday, May 17, 2010 in Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville.
He was born in Hammondsville, Ohio August 16, 1930, a son of the late Allen and Gladys (Grimm) Christopher. He is also preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth and two sisters, Ilene Householder and Margaret Lattin.
He was a graduate of the old Steubenville Business College and was truly loved by everyone and will be will be greatly missed by his family and pet, Maggie.
He retired in 1987 as assistant superintendent at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel then was a consultant in sales for Metallurgical Services in McKees Rocks, PA for 23 years retiring last year.
He was a veteran of the US Army Active Army Reserve and member of the Finley Untied Methodist Church where he was an active member of the Sunday School. He was an avid baseball coach having coached his own sons as well as hundreds of others. He formerly belonged to the Richmond American Legion post #740 Honored Seven and the Dyer Country Club was a former 32 degree Mason and Shriner. He was an avid golfer.
Charles is survived by his wife, Bettty L. (Slaven) Christopher, two sons, Gregory and wife Sharon of Wintersville and Charles and fiancAC.` Linda Carter of Richmond; one daughter, Charlene Dalfonso and husband David of Woodstock, GA, a brother, Hugh of Wintersville, 7 grandchildren: Stefanie Gutierrez, Katie Christopher, Rachel, Rebekah, Jakob and Jesse Dalfonso and Chuckie Christopher and 2 great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Anna Gutierrez.
Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd., Wintersville on Thursday from 1 PM until 3 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 4 PM at the Finley Methodist Church on Lincoln Ave., Steubenville with Pastor Jerry Ernest officiating.
Charles and Betty's great-granddaughter has Retts Syndrome and their wishes are that memorial contributions be made in Charles' memory to The Anna Gutierrez Trust, 3047 23rd St., First Floor, Astoria, NY 11102
