WILBUR CULP, 82, of Bergholz, OH, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2010 in his home following a year's illness.
He was born September 10, 1927 in Ross Twp, Jefferson County, OH a son of the late Floyd and Ethel Boyd Culp. He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Lois Bright who died in 1987 and one brother.
After returning from the US Army, he worked at Weirton Steel where he retired in 1978 from the galvanized line. He was a member of the Bergholz Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon for many years. He was a member of the Wintersville American Legion Post #557.
Wilbur was active in his community of Bergholz having served as mayor, police chief, fire chief and on the water department board.
He is survived by his wife, Mona Jean Williams Culp whom he married May 26, 1948, by three sons, Richard (Barb) Culp of Pierpont, OH, Thomas (Nancy) Culp, Bergholz and Harry (Dee) Culp of Bergholz, three sisters, Imogene (John) Hellock and Mary (John) Fisher, both of Wintersville, and Lois (Tom) Clark, Salineville; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Wilbur will be held at 11 AM Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the Bergholz Church of Christ with Pastor Dave Miller officiating. There will be an honor guard provided by the Bergholz Volunteer Fire Department.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
