Charles "Duke" James, 86, a resident of Bloomingdale, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2024 at Lancia Vista Royale. He was born May 21, 1938 in Steubenville, Ohio. He leaves behind a legacy of love and passion for the outdoors, trains, and planes. Known for being a man of few words, Duke's actions spoke volumes, and his gentle presence touched many lives.

Duke was a skilled welder and mechanic, proudly serving as a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W.). He worked as a supervisor for 30 years at Florida Power & Light, Manatee Power Plant. His dedication and craftsmanship earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. In addition to his mechanical skills, he held a commercial and single engine pilot's license, allowing him to soar through the skies and indulge his love for flying.

His commitment to safety and leadership was recognized during his tenure as Chairman of the Employee Safety Team at Manatee Power Plant in Parrish, Florida. His efforts in this role significantly contributed to a safer working environment for his colleagues.

Duke served as a marksman in the U.S. Army, demonstrating exceptional skill and discipline. His military service was a source of great pride and dedication to his country.

Duke was preceded in death by his parents Carl & Florence (Oxley) James, and siblings Catherine, Carl and Gladys.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Donna, who lovingly cared for him throughout their 42 years together. His sister Mary Lou Bunger of Bal Harbour, Florida, and children: Charlie (Andrea) James and Tiffany (Tony) Bell, Ken (Tammy) Smith, Brenda Milliken, and Tina (Mark) Treglia. His legacy continues through his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each carrying a piece of his quiet yet vibrant spirit.

A private service will be held for his family to celebrate his life. Duke will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his spirit lives on in the hearts of his loved ones.
