CHARLES R. SKINNER, 80, of Bloomingdale, OH, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2010 in Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville.
He was born December 1, 1929 in Stratton, OH, a son of the late Ray E. and Marie (Van Wey) Skinner. He is also preceded in death by a his first wife, Dorothy Brown who died May 30, 1990 and by his second wife, Genevieve Sims Craig Skinner who died November 8, 2005; by one son, David Skinner who died in 1987, two step-sons, Thomas and William Warren, a step-daughter, Pat Kesner, a sister, Irene McGraw and infant brother, Lawrence Skinner.
Charles served in the US Navy during the Korean War and retired November 1, 1994 as a weld line operator at Titanium Metals in Toronto. He was a life member of the North American Fishers Club (Minnesota) and the Bass Angler's Sportsman's Society, Montgomery, Alabama. He was a Protestant by faith.
He is survived by a son, Charles D. (Tammy) Skinner of Richmond, two step-sons, Sam (Gay) Warren, Richmond and Robert (Joann) Warren of Toronto; a step-daughter, Sandy (Robert) Blackburn, Richmond, three brothers, Dale (Ginny) Skinner of Knoxville, Ray, Jr. (Mary) Skinner of Wellsville, and Thurl (Wink) Skinner of Riverside, CA; by a sister, Donna Fullerton, Knoxville; 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main St., Richmond on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday with the Reverend James Stafford officiating.
Entombment will follow in the Highland Hills Mausoleum, Follansbee, WV with full military honors by the Ohio Valley Veteran's Memorial Squad.
