David Carmel Allen, 65, of Bergholz, OH, passed away November 28, 2014 at his home.

He was born September 9, 1949 in New Lexington, OH, a son of Alberta McGhee Allen and the late Floyd Allen.

David served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during Vietnam and a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal with a Gold Star.

David was self-employed at D & K Gutter, Inc., former Police Chief of Amsterdam, former Mayor of Bergholz, and a former employee at Sammis Plant.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Karen (Eckenrode) Allen; daughter, Darci Hurst; step children, Wendy, Danielle, and Wayne II Virgadamo; grandchildren, Dylan and Wyatt Hurst; step granddaughters, Jada Brown and Nevaeh Virgadamo; great grandson, Jack Hurst;  brother, Robert (Carol) Allen; sister, Janie (Lonnie) Blackburn; and ex-wife, Connie (Joynson) Reed and son, Brian.

A memorial service and military salute in his honor will be held Sat., Dec. 6th, 3pm at the VFW Post 232, Liberty St., Amsterdam, OH.  Donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. www.woundedwarriorproject.org
