David Owen Hunt, 83, of Richmond, Ohio, passed away at Gables Care Center with family by his side on December 3, 2024. He was born on September 27, 1941, in Steubenville, Ohio, to the late Delbert Owen and Anna (Germek) Hunt. In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his sons, James D. Hunt and Gary Hanlin; and his brother, Delbert Lee Hunt.

David retired from Wheeling-Pitt Steel after 30 years and was an automobile mechanic and service manager at Volkswagen Garage in Steubenville, Ohio. He graduated from Brilliant Memorial High School in 1959. After graduating high school, he then went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force during the Cold War with Russia and the Vietnam War, he was a jet engine mechanic from 1961-1965. David was a member of the Masonic Lodge 45 in Steubenville, Past President of the Steubenville Shrine Club and the American Legion Post 557 in Wintersville, Ohio. David had a passion for music and was chosen to play in the 300 piece All-Ohio Boys Band at the 1959 Ohio State Fair. He also played in local 50's and 60' Rock & Roll Bands for 53 years, most of those years were with his lifelong friend, Rich Grimm of Mingo Junction, Ohio. He was later known as "The Music Man" after his retirement from Wheeling-Pitt Steel.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Ellen (Klink) Hunt; his children, Robert O. Hunt, Heidi A. (Russ) Greene, Richard L. Hunt, Sharon (Keith) Pool, and Randy (Jeanne) Hanlin; his grandchildren, Kimberly (Jeremy) Yeager and Julie (Josh) Morckel, who were his special caregivers, Ben Adkinson, Nate Adkinson, Jordan (Abby) Hanlin, and Cody Hanlin; his many great grandchildren; and his special pet, Daisy Mae.

Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd, Wintersville, Ohio, on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 11 A.M. until time of services at 1 P.M. Burial will follow at Fort Steuben Burial Estates with military honors.
