David R. Johnston, 83, of Amsterdam, OH, passed away August 14, 2016 at Weirton Medical Center, Weirton, WV.

He was born May 21, 1933 in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late Howard and Winifred (Roush) Johnston.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Howard Dale Johnston, Jr.

Dave served his country in the United States Army.

He grew up in Weirton, WV. Graduate of Weirton High School and attended WVU in Morgantown.

He retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as an electrician.

Dave was a member of the East Springfield United Methodist Church of the Cross.

He was a member of the New Cumberland Lodge #22 F&AM Masonic Lodge.

Dave is survived by his wife, Margarete (Kressman) Johnston whom he married May 31, 1957; son, David Michael (Michelle) Johnston of Salineville, OH; daughter, Melissa (George) Williamson of East Springfield, OH; sister, Ann Rutledge Johnston of New Bern, NC; grandchildren, Caitlin (Derek) Gulling of Richmond, Elizabeth Williamson, Madeline Williamson, and Caroline Williamson all of East Springfield, OH.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 W. Main St., Richmond, OH where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jim Gaston officiating.

Burial will follow at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Hanover Twp, PA.
