Obituary
David Howard Monigold Sr, 79, of Steubenville, Ohio (Pleasant Hill) passed away Sunday, November 13th, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 16, 1937 in Steubenville, OH the son of the late Daniel A. and Evelyn Bessie (Rawson) Monigold.
David was a member of the Bell Chapel United Methodist Church. He loved fishing, boating and to go camping in his motorhome. You could also find David (Pappy) working in the garage, out in the yard, or spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He loved to decorate his home for the holidays and everyone on the hilltop would come to see his lights.
He shared 57 years of marriage with the love of his life, his wife JoAnn. He was a 1957 graduate of the Jefferson Union High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was retired from Teramana Coal Company and Anthony Mining as a heavy equipment operator.
David is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jean Mosser, Ruth Rowe, and Betty Thompson and a brother, Clifford "Bud" Monigold.
David is survived by his wife of 57 years, Josephine Ann (Sarno) Monigold, whom he married June 13th, 1959; children, David Monigold, Jr. and companion, Robin Montgomery of Steubenville, OH, Daniel (Nancy) Monigold of Richmond, OH; grandchildren, Amber (James) Monigold of Toronto, OH, Mia (John) Fairclough of Richmond, OH, David (Kelly Jo) Monigold of Steubenville, OH, and Angelique Monigold of Richmond OH; great grandchildren, Aiden Carte, Kellen Carte, and Owen Fairclough; sisters, Nancy (John) Vittek of Steubenville, OH and Grace Schmittauer of Athens, OH; brothers, Donald Monigold of Wintersville, OH, Richard (Cathy) Monigold, Sr. and Thomas (Sandy) Monigold all of Steubenville, OH; brother in law, Fred Thompson of Steubenville, OH and daughter in law Jackie Monigold of Richmond, OH. He was also the loved uncle to many nieces and nephews; and his dear friend, Richard Clashman.
Visitation hours for David will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Road, Wintersville, OH 43953.
His funeral service will be held 11:00 AM on Friday at Bell Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeff Proya officiating.
Burial will follow at Center Chapel Cemetery, Steubenville, OH. Luncheon will follow directly after at Bell Chapel United Methodist Church.
