DEAN S. STINE, 79, of Bergholz, Ohio, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009 in Trinity Medical Center East, Steubenville following a lingering illness. He was born in East Springfield, OH August 13, 1929, a son of the late Frederick N. and Bessie Angelina (Lawson) Stine. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Florence M. (Shepherd) Stine who died November 7, 2005, and by 4 siblings, Vivian Walulik, Ruth Stine, John Stine and William Stine. Dean was a retired coal miner for the old Jensie Mine and was a lifelong farmer. He served in the US Army and was a Protestant by faith. He was a lifetime member of the Amsterdam VFW Post #232. He is survived by his two daughters, Rose M. (Valiant) Maple of Wellsville, Ohio and Mary Lou Stine of Bergholz, by 2 grandchildren and their spouses, Kenneth and Cindy (Ritchie) Portwood of Lancaster, KY and Carla and Ronnie Yocum of Stanford, KY.; by his great-grandchildren, Ryan, Kelly, Kendra and Aimee, and by two brothers and their spouses, Edward and Anita (Twaddle) Stine and Michael and Tina (Carter) Stine, all of Bergholz. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 PM Saturday at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, Bergholz, 285 Second St., Bergholz with the Reverend James Stafford leading the service. Burial will follow in the Circle Green Cemetery near his home. Visitation for Dean will be on Saturday at the funeral home from 11 AM until time of services at 1 PM.
