Douglas Kenneth
Plante
August 18, 1950 – April 20, 2026
Douglas Kenneth Plant(e), 75, also well known as the “Fix It Man”, passed away peacefully from a brief illness surrounded by his family on April 20, 2026, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was born on August 18, 1950, in Alliance, Ohio, a son of the late Kenneth and Viola Jean (Goodson) Plant. In addition to his parents, Douglas is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents who raised him, George and Lola Plant of East Springfield, Ohio; and his sister, Debbie Murench.
Douglas was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He served honorably in the U.S. Army with Company B, 172d Support Battalion and the 172d Infantry Brigade. Douglas carried his service with quiet pride throughout his life. Douglas belonged to the NRA and served as past president of the Audubon Club. He loved music, was an avid ham radio operator, and spent as much time as he could outdoors. Douglas was fiercely devoted to his family and took great pride in mentoring his grandchildren who were his world; he made sure no one was ever a stranger in his presence.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rosemarie (Soly) Plante, whom he married on November 22, 1980; his son, Benjamin Plante; his daughters, Lola (Paul) Orsini and Jasmine (D.J.) Woodburn; his grandchildren, Branden Plante, Logan Plante, Dominic Plante, George Orsini and Chloe Orsini; his 5 great grandchildren; and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
In honor of Douglas’s wishes, there will be no services held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a Veterans organization of your choice or plant a tree in Douglas’s name.
Private arrangements are entrusted to Everhart-Bove Funeral Homes.
