Edward Nelson "Pa" Rose, 77, of Bloomingdale, OH passed away April 29, 2014 at Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville after his courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig 's Disease).
He was born April 3, 1937 in Martins Ferry, OH, a son of the late Emmett and Sara (Snively) Rose.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his beloved son, Joseph "Joe" Rose who passed away in 2003; brother, Emmett Rose; brothers-in-law, Floyd, Duane, Cecil, and Jim; and sisters-in-law, Lila, Gladys, and Linda.
Edward served his country in the United States Army.
He was a member of the Minksville Church of Christ.
He was employed at Isaly's in his younger days. Edward then worked at the old St. John Hospital as the Data Processing Director, and in his later years worked at the License Bureau.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Joan (Biehl) Rose of Bloomingdale; daughter, Tracy (Russell) Kline of Madisonville, Kentucky; special daughter-in-law, Jessica (Richard) Dillon of Reynoldsburg, OH; grandchildren, Kevin Kline and Elijah Dillon; sister, Jane Ann Becker of Marietta, OH; brother-in-law, Dick; sisters-in-law, Martha, Maxine, and Sandy; special friends, Jim (June) Combs; many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd., Wintersville on Thursday from 3-8 PM and again on Friday from 1:00 PM until time of funeral services at 4:00 PM with Robert Main and Don Treadway officiating.
Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Columbus, OH.
Memorial contributions may be made to Belvedere Volunteer Fire Department, Bloomingale, OH or Minksville Church of Christ.
