Edwin "Eddie" Mercer, 81, of Richmond, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2024, at Weirton Medical Center. Ed was born on October 17, 1942, the son of the late Lowell and Pauline Mercer. In addition to his parents, Eddie is preceded in death by his brother, Larry (Carolyn) Mercer.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gloria Mercer. He has one daughter, Sherri Birney, of Hopedale, OH. Ed has 3 grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Malania (Reilly) Birney of New Albany, OH, TJ Birney of Hopedale, OH, and Mallory (Caleb) Birney of Kent, OH. He also loved playing with his "puppy dog" Koda and "the big girl" Miss Kitty.

He is also survived by his sisters, Shirley (Bill) Fithen and Carol (Jack) Browning; and many nieces and nephews.

He was a member at the Unionport Christian Church and retired from Ohio Edison.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff of the 5th floor at Weirton Medical Center for all of their care.

Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Road, Wintersville, Ohio, on Monday, February 12, 2024, from 1 P.M. until time of services at 6 P.M. with Pastor Tom Scott officiating.

Memorial contributions can be to the Tony Teramana Cancer Center, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or the Richmond Methodist Church.
