Elmer T. Shannon, 96, of Irondale, OH, passed away Monday, March 23, 2016 at his home.

He was born September 19, 1919 in Brooke County, WV, a son of the late Freeman and Jenney (Harris) Shannon.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Shannon; brothers, Harley Shannon, Sr. and Jesse Shannnon; sisters, Mary "Sparky" Peterson, Edna Striker, and Hazel Shannon; and two grandchildren, William Michael Shannon and Shawn Patrick Shannon.

Elmer worked as a chemist for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. He was a lifelong farmer

He is survived by his children; Patricia (Ron) Williamson of Hammondsville, Ernest (Shelda) Shannon of Hammondsville, Jack (Mary Ann) Shannon of Bergholz, Barbara (Roger) Blackburn of Hammondsville, and Jenny (Brad) Railing of Mt Vernon; sisters, Florence Louise Kestner of Steubenville, Deloris Ellen Beadnell of Amsterdam, and Jean McTheny of Jewett.

Friends will be received on Friday 6-8 PM and Saturday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 285 Second St., Bergholz where funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Bill Hibbs officiating.

Entombment will follow at Ft. Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville.
