Elvada Mae Johnson, loving mom, greatest cook, and best fishing partner, 85 years old, of Bloomingdale, OH, passed away March 9, 2017 at Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville.
She was born June 30, 1931 in East Springfield, OH, a daughter of the late Guy E. and Helen Marie (Skinner) Harmon.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, George William Harmon.
Elvada was the cook at Richmond Elementary, Springfield and Edison Local School Districts. She was co-owner of the Johnson Drive Inn and co- created the Johnson Special Sandwich in 1955.
She always enjoyed the kids from the schools coming to the restaurant after the games. Elvada loved sports of all kinds.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Donald R. Johnson of Bloomingdale; children, Helen (Chuck) Griffith of Reedville, VA, Jeff (Lori) Johnson of Bloomingdale, OH, and Raymond (Leigh) Johnson of Bloomingdale, OH; grandchildren, Amy and Eddie Griffith, Emily (Keith) Schmader, Katie (Kyle) Johannes, and Bo Johnson, Chad (Brittany) Johnson, and Cory Johnson; and great grandchildren, Cole Johnson and Phoebe Schmader.
Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Everhart- Bove Funeral Home, 110 W. Main St., Richmond where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Sam Davis.
Burial will follow at Bergholz Cemetery.
