Obituary

Ernest “Ernie” Mahling, 79, born June 4th, 1947, of Richmond Ohio joined his wife Dianne in eternal rest on July 20th, 2026. He was at Allegheny General Hospital. He will be remembered by family and friends for his love of antiques, hunting, trains, and dogs. He was a proud member of Masonic Lodge 333.

Originally from Richmond Hill, Queens, New York. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed on the U.S.S. Ruchamkin. Upon leaving the service he returned to New York and worked at CitiBank for 9 years. While traveling with his sister, he fell in love with the Ohio Valley and moved to Ohio in 1977. Upon arriving in the area, he was a volunteer member for the East Springfield Fire Department.

Ernie worked for many years in security and sales. He was an installer at Tri-State Security, and sales director at Champion Directories. He retired from Lauttamus Communication where he worked for over 20 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents- Ernest G. Mahling, Marie E. Mahling(Klemm), his wife Dianne Mahling (Henry), son Michael Mahling, brother Willam Mahling, and brother-in-law Edmund Bishop.

Survived by his children Lisa (Jeff) Rufo, J. Michael (Olena) Moores, Samantha (Austin) Beachem. His grandchildren Emily (Mark) Van Deusen, Thomas Mahling, Andrew Mahling, Jocelyn Moores, Olivia Moores, Jack Rufo, Claire Rufo, Ella Beachem, Caroline Beachem and Jeremiah Beachem. Siblings Linda Bishop, Robert Mahling, Darlene (Russell) Moheny, Denise (Norman) Gordon, plus many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Yukon.

Friends will be received for visitation at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd, Wintersville, Ohio, on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 2-4 P.M. and from 6-8 P.M. with Masonic Services at 7:45 P.M. Military honors and a funeral service will be held the following day, Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the funeral home at 11 A.M. with Rev. Clint Marshall officiating.

A private lunch will be provided for family and invited friends after the service.
