Evelyn Virginia (Ford) Stanley , 89 of East Springfield , Ohio passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Canton Mercy Medical Hospital .

She was born May 9, 1921 in Steubenville , OH , a daughter of the late Henry L. and Elizabeth Gill Ford. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur Stanley, whom she married June 25, 1944 ; daughter, Nancy Stanley Leiter; sister, Hester Chandler; brother, Lawrence Ford; and grandson, Joel Farmer.

Evelyn was a dedicated and caring teacher for 30 years. She started her career in 1941 in a one room school. The majority of her career was spent teaching third grade at Richmond Elementary. She retired from teaching in 1984.

She was a member of the East Springfield United Methodist Church of the Cross where she was very involved in many areas of church work. She was a member of Alpha Mu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, Amsterdam Senior Women's Club, Jefferson County Homemakers, and Jefferson County Retired Teachers.

Evelyn and her late husband enjoyed traveling and camping with the Night Owls Camping Club.

She is survived by and will be lovingly missed by daughters Ruth Ellen (Enoch) Farmer and Karen (Fred) Goddard, both of East Springfield; son-in-law Gary Leiter of Youngstown; grandchildren, Andrew (Deida) Farmer, Douglas Farmer, Kristin Goddard, Cory Goddard, Keith Leiter, and Megan Leiter; great-grandsons, Alejandro and Santiago Farmer; sister, Sara Ray of Orange, CA, formerly of Bergholz, OH.

Friends will be received at Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main St. , Richmond on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM where Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Friday with Pastor Tom Snodgrass officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Union Cemetery .
