Florence “Jean” Newlin 87, of Bloomingdale, Ohio, passed away on June 23, 2026. She was born on November 11, 1938, in Pine Grove, West Virginia, to the late Everett and Florence Jessie (Scyoc) Hartley. In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her sisters, Leona Buckel and Hazel “Mae” Hartley; and her brothers, Albert, Everett “Jim”, Carl, Clarence, and Earl “Bob” Hartley.

Jean was a devoted mother of four children, grandmother of 10, and great grandmother of 2. She raised her oldest granddaughter, Maria, and poured her love into all. She loved spending time with all of them.

She enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening, taking care of her flowers and pets, and feeding the birds and all the wildlife. She enjoyed going for walks in God’s beautiful creation. She was a faithful member of Crossroads Christian Church in Wintersville, Ohio, and lived out her faith daily.

She was a friend to all she met and loved the times she got to spend with all of her friends. She offered encouragement to all she met. She was a nurse's aide at nursing homes by profession and enjoyed caring for the residents and sharing her faith with them.

She is survived by her sons, David (Barb) Newlin, Bob (Lori) Newlin, and John Newlin; her daughter, Tina Marie Newlin; her grandchildren, Maria (Phillip) Jordan, Kevin, John, Erin, Sarah, Tessa, Megan, Luke, Matt, and Leah Newlin; and her two great grandchildren, Phillip Jr. and Wyatt.

Private burial will be held at Richmond Union Cemetery.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
