Fred P. Wiley, Sr., 85, of Bergholz , OH , passed away April 29, 2014 at Acuity Specialty Hospital , Steubenville .
He was born March 15, 1929 in Bloomingdale , OH . He is preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Oscar and Betty Wiley and mother and step-father, Georgia Pauline and Glenn Bennett; by his wife, Mary Jane (Carrick) Wiley who died Oct. 13, 2007 ; brothers, Asher, Roger, Oscar, Ray, Richard; sisters, Sandra Giland, Dorothy Fiske, an infant sister, and a granddaughter, Tracy Custer.
Fred served his country in the United States Army during WWII.
He was a member of Chestnut Ridge Methodist Church and the American Legion. Fred retired from Wheeling-Pitt Steel where he worked as a welder.
Fred is survived by his sons, Frederick P. (Margaret) Wiley, Jr. of Salineville, OH, John (Karen) Wiley of Bergholz, OH, and Alan (Lisa) Wiley of Bergholz, OH; daughters, Kay (Tom) Cooper of Cleveland, OH, Fay (Jim) Stepic of Cleveland, OH, Sandra (Terry) MacEwen of Cleveland, OH, and Brenda (Richard) Eckenrode of Bergholz, OH; brother, Larry (Debbie) Wiley of Bergholz, OH; sisters, Mary (Melvin) Keiffer of Melbourne, FL, Shirley McCourt of Salinesville, OH, and Laura Sines of Bergholz, OH; 33 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and his companion of 6 years, his dog, Blondie.
Friends will be received on Friday from 12:00 Noon until time of funeral services at 1:00 PM at the Chestnut Ridge Methodist Church, Cinder Rd, Bergholz with the Reverend Mark Thomas officiating.
Burial will follow at Bergholz Cemetery with full military honors.
