Matheson, Sr.
July 23, 1931 – June 22, 2018
George J. Matheson, Sr., 86, of East Springfield, OH, passed away June 22, 2018.
He was born July 23, 1931 in Waynesburg, PA, a son of the late George and Icy (King) Matheson.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Loretta and second wife, JoAnn; sons, Jesse "Jerry" Matheson and Thomas Matheson; and siblings, Solomon, Eva, and Margaret.
George served in the Korean War in the United States Army 110th Infantry.
He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel after 42 years and was a Nazarene by faith.
George is survived by his sons, George (Donna Vinson) Matheson, Jr. of Steubenville, OH and Donald (Deb Sanders) Matheson of Wolf Run, OH; daughters, Elizabeth (Ray) Barkheimer of Dover, OH, Georgia (Les Grimm) Kulin of Amsterdam, OH, Nyoka (Bill) Hurand of East Springfield, OH, Peggy (Howard Fray) Bogges of Amsterdam, Frances (Hank) Hunter of Rogers, OH, and Eva (Paul) Wilson of Adena, OH; 32 grandchildren; 81 great grandchildren; 16 great great grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Glenda of Steubenville and Sue of Wellsville.
Friends will be received at Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 W. Main St., Richmond on Wednesday from 11 am until time of funeral services at 1 pm with his grandson, John Kulin officiating.
Burial will follow at East Springfield Cemetery with full Military Honors.
