GILBERT L. ROWAN, SR., 72, of Bergholz, OH, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2007 in Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville. He retired in 1997 as a crane operator for IMS and was a US Navy veteran serving in the SeaBees in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Bergholz Baptist Church, the NRA, the Richmond American Legion and a life member of the Operating Engineers of West Virginia. He graduated from Carrollton High School in 1953.
He was born October 9, 1934 in Mingo Jct., OH. He is preceded in death by his parents, Scott M. and Sadie A. (Lowe) Rowan, and by 3 brothers, Jim, Evan and Rick. He is survived by his wife, Irene (Payne) Rowan whom he married June 3, 1962, by his mother-in-law, Mary Jane Payne, Bergholz, 4 sons, Gilbert Lee Rowan, Jr. and wife Beth of Smithburg, MD, Clint D. and wife Lisa of Blacklick, OH, Scott M. and wife Michelle of Bergholz, and Patrick J. Rowan of Bergholz; 9 grandchildren, Michael, Emily, Kehlsey, Corrina, Alicia, James, Clint, Staci and Karissa; by a brother, Dean Justice and wife Chris of East Palestine, OH, and two sisters, Carol Jean George of Minerva, OH and Katherine Brown and husband Jim of VanNuys, CA.
Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 285 Second St., Bergholz on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM where funeral services will be held at 1 PM Thursday with Pastor Robert Stover officiating.
