Gwendolyn Thelma Blackburn, 89, of Bluffton, SC, formerly of Richmond, OH passed away January 21, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born November 21, 1928 in New Somerset, OH, a daughter of the late Edson and Muriel (Williams) Carson.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Blackburn; sisters; Carol McCleary, Beverly Olenick, Sherrill Carson, and Edna Gayle Carson; and brothers, Byron and Billy Carson.

Gwen was an active member of the Richmond United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by son, Mark (Cindy) Blackburn of Bluffton, SC; daughter, Penny (Greg) Wrkich of Bluffton, SC; sisters, Eleanor (Carl) Widdig of Clinton, Mississippi, and Margaret (Robert) Jackman of Wellsville, OH; grandchildren, Staci (Tim) Copeland, Alyssa (Brynly) Marsh, Joshua Blackburn, and Nichole (Travis) Yanok; great grandchildren, Abby and Carson Copeland, Peyton Marsh, Jacob, Laney, and Charlotte Yanok, and Sawyer Blackburn.

Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 W. Main St., Richmond on Friday from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Tidewater Hospice, 10 Buckingham Plantation Dr., Suite A, Bluffton, SC 29910.

Private entombment will be at Ft. Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville.
