Harley E. Shannon Sr., 83, of Irondale, Ohio, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Essex One of Salem Care Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born November 1, 1930, in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late Freeman and Jenni Belle Harris Shannon.
He is also preceded in death by his wife, Joyce (Pisklo) and by two daughters, Mary Louise Ramon and Mary Ann Marsh.
He was a retired farmer.
Harley is survived by four sons, Harley "Butch" (Mary) Shannon, Jr., of Lisbon, Terry (Charlotte) Shannon of Hammondsville, OH, Gary Shannon and James Shannon, both of Irondale; two daughters, Kay Shannon of Steubenville and Norma (Cecil) Chase of Toronto; a brother, Elmer Shannon; three sisters, Louise Kestner, Steubenville, Deloris Ellen Beadnell of Amsterdam and Jean McTheny of Jewett; l0 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 285 Second St., Bergholz, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Burial will follow in the Bergholz Cemetery.
