Ida Frances Flenniken, 85, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, July 8, 2022, in Trinity Medical Center in Steubenville, with her family by her side.

Ida, a daughter of Rocco and Eliza (Settimio) June, was born in Steubenville, Ohio, on January 15, 1937; she grew up and attended schools in Follansbee, WV. On February 13, 1971, she married John Flenniken of East Springfield and spent the last 50+ years in Ohio.

In the past, Ida was an active member of the Jefferson Hills Garden Club, the Richmond Lioness Club, and the East Springfield Homemakers, Jefferson County Homemakers Alumni, the St. John Fisher Catholic Women's Club, and the Richmond Historical Society. From 2010 through 2021 she served as secretary of the East Springfield Cemetery Association.

In 1975, she and her husband John began a greenhouse business at their home, growing and selling flowers and vegetable plants each spring. After the 1999 season, they closed their successful business. She loved playing BINGO and making pizzelles. She also enjoyed watching birds on the feeder and cats and kittens outside her door.

Ida is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, David June; her sister, Rose Lucas; and a stillborn granddaughter, Amanda Sue Flenniken. She is survived by her husband, John; son, Mark (Amanda Thompson) Flenniken; daughter, Rita (Joshua) Brooks; two brothers, Robert (JoAnn) June from Alexandria, VA and Michael (Carol) June from Follansbee, WV; seven grandchildren, Meghan, Alexis, Christian, Dominick, Damean, Amber, and Jordyn; and two great grandchildren, Camden and Ashton.

Visitation will be from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. on Monday, July 11, 2022 and on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 from 9 until time of service at 11 A.M., at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd, Wintersville, Ohio. Burial will follow at the East Springfield Cemetery. Friends are invited to join the family at the East Springfield Community Center following the service at the cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
