J. Peter McGeehan, 61 of Richmond, Ohio passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Valley
Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville after a five year struggle with cancer.
Peter was born October 31, 1950 in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late James Daniel
McGeehan and Mary Margaret Peter, whom resides at Lancia Villa Royale Nursing
Home. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his brother,
Patrick McGeehan and aunt, Von Stuckemeyer.
Pete was a graduate of Jefferson Union High School, received his Bachelors degree from
Franciscan University and Masters degree from Dayton University. He was
Catholic by faith. He was a former social studies teacher at the JVS, track
coach at Indian Creek, and enjoyed officiating high school track meets. Pete was
an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Steelers, he also really enjoyed
learning about the Civil War and its history. He loved his Irish heritage and
like his father had the gift of the Blarney. He really loved his dog, Tia. Pete
maintained his sense of humor until the very end.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Von (John) Holmes of Steubenville;
uncle, Les Stuckemeyer of Wintersville; four nephews, Adam Schnieder of
Chicago, IL, Greg Holmes, Scott Holmes, and Luke Holmes all of Steubenville.
Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd., on Tuesday from
6 PM until times of services at 7PM. Private interment at Fort Steuben Burial
Estates, Wintersville. Memorial contributions can be made to the Tony Teramana Cancer
