Obituary

J. MARLENE REED, 66, of Richmond, Ohio, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2010 in Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville following a sudden illness. She was born in Richmond March 20, 1944, a daughter of the late Arthur G. and Annie K. Kerr Powley. She is also preceded in death by her husband, H. Dale Reed who died August 7, 2004, by two brothers, Arthur G. "Sonny" Powley and Andrew G. Powley and a sister, Bea Christopher. Marlene was a person who enjoyed people and conversation. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren whom she adored tremendously. She was a member of the Richmond Untied Presbyterian Church where she had served as secretary, had driven bus for School of Bright Promise for 13 years, and was a clerk at the old Richmond Pharmacy. She was a clerk/cashier at Dorsey's Market in East Springfield, served as a Ross Twp. poll worker and had been secretary for the Jefferson State Park Campground. She is survived by her son, M. David Reed and wife, Tina and her grandchildren, Mikayla Shan Reed and Ian Michael Reed, all of Salem, OH, a brother, Robert "Bobby" Powley of Steubenville, two sisters, Barbara Keeder and husband, Harold of Toronto and Joann Jurkiewicz and husband, Stanley of St. Helens, OR, her sister-in-law, Margaret Powley of Richmond and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main St., Richmond, Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral services for Marlene will be at the Richmond United Presbyterian Church, Richmond at 11 AM Monday with Pastor John Hearn officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.
