JAMES RANDALSON, 90, of Bergholz, OH, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2007 at Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville. He retired from Ray C. Call as a fabricator in 1979 and before that was a coal miner for many years. He was a parish member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amsterdam.
He enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and got onboard a new LSM Ship shipping out to the South Pacific to Pearl Harbor, Guam and Eniwetok and was in the battles of Okinawa and Saipan. He was the first enlisted man aboard his ship that left San Diego and the skipper awarded the ship's flag to him which went through all the engagements with them in the South Pacific. He had served as a Bergholz Policeman, and loved to ride his motorcycle, work on his Volkswagens and play the organ. Jim's greatest pleasure was to be surrounded by family.
Jim was born in St. Louis, Missouri, June 15, 1917, a son of the late Sam and Carmella (Ambroso) Randalson. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Angeline S. (Arlotto) Randalson who died April 28, 1987, by an infant son, Antonio James Randalson, by two brothers, Angelo and most recently, Jacob who died in March of 2007 and by two sisters, Daisy and Rose.
