JAMES L. "SUGAR" GIBBONS, 83, of Unionport, OH, passed away Wednesday, June 07, 2006 in his home of natural causes. He was a miner retiring from Consolidated Coal Co. after 40 years and was a member of the Unionport Christian Church. He served in the US Army during WWII. Sugar was born in Barton, OH August 2, 1922, a son of the late Samuel W. and Melissa L. (Ewing) Gibbons. He is also preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters and his first wife, Betty J. (Nethers) Gibbons. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Le'Ann (Ellis) Gibbons, by 2 sons, James C. Gibbons and wife Bonnie, Greeley, CO and Randy D. Gibbons and wife Mary of Chesapeake, VA; by a daugher Melissa and husband Steve Harris of Unionport, a sister, Gevena Vargo, Hopedale, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Arrangements are entrusted to the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main St., Richmond where services will be held at the convenience of the family.
