James W. Allender, 77, of Bergholz , OH , passed away April 13, 2016 at Trinity West Medical Center , Steubenville .

He was born March 26, 1939 in Bergholz , OH , a son of the late Wilbert L. and Doris Ruth (Baker) Allender.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma J. (Spicer) Allender.

He was a member of Chestnut Ridge United Methodist Church .

James was a lifelong farmer and a coal miner.

He is survived by his sons, James L. Allender of Bergholz, OH and Jeffery "Todd" (Frances) Allender; daughter Barbara (Don) Riley of Minerva, OH; brothers, Larry Allender of North Lima, OH and Donald Allender of Perrysville, OH; sister, Ruth Ann Berry of Perrysville, OH; 9 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 5-7 PM at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 W. Main St. , Richmond where funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mark Thomas officiating.

Burial will follow at Bergholz Cemetery .
