Jason Fredrick Downing, 52, of Steubenville, Ohio, passed away suddenly on April 26, 2026. He was born on December 4, 1973, in Steubenville, Ohio, to Phillip “Tom” Downing and Sylvia (Thompson) Downing. Jason is preceded in death by an infant whom they lost on April 26, 2017; and his dog, Red.

An avid Michigan fan, his enthusiasm for the Wolverines was contagious. He loved sharing his pride with everyone around him. He also enjoyed good conversation over bourbon or craft beer. He adored children and animals, he was a friend to all. He had a big heart and would do anything for anyone. Jason’s ornery smile and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Jason is survived by his wife, Michele (Zamilski) Downing; his children, Aaron (Sarah) Fabian, Isabella (Christian Getsey) Fabian, and Maggie (Michael Connolly) Fabian; his brother, Mike (Garnett Clutter) Downing; his sister, Amy (Donny) Dixon; his grandchildren, Caden and Kane Getsey, and Atlas and Landen Fabian; his niece and nephew, Ian and Payton Dixon; his dog, Brady; and his cats, Prince, Charlie, and Hutchie.

In honor of Jason, the family asks for everyone to wear casual clothing or blue/yellow for Michigan for the service.

Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd, Wintersville, Ohio, on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 4 P.M. until time of services at 8 P.M. with Pastor Tim Groos and Angel Arabia officiating.
