Jean D. Freas 97, of Steubenville, Ohio passed away December 10, 2021 at Carriage Inn of Steubenville. She was born August 25, 1924 in East Springfield, Ohio, a daughter of the late Ralph and Marie (Flenniken) Mallernee. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Loran Freas; grandson, Clinton Herman; sister, Virginia Channels; brother, Ray Mallernee. She attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Jean is survived by her son, Ralph (Karen) Freas of Toronto, OH; daughter, Starlene (John) Herman of Zoar, OH; brothers, Dual Mallernee and Earl (Patty) Mallernee; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd., Wintersville, Ohio on Tuesday from 10 AM until time of funeral services at 12 Noon with Pastor Bill Westling officiating. Burial will follow at East Springfield cemetery.
