John R. (Dick) Carson, age 88, passed away February 27th. Dick was born and raised in Bergholz, Ohio. He was an Army Veteran who served in the Ohio National Guard and as a Tank Sergeant in the Korean War. Dick ran a sawmill for years, served two terms as Bergholz Mayor, and was the Village Administrator for Bergholz until his retirement. Dick was beloved husband of Mary Jane (Haney) Carson, and was one of nine children born to the late Harold and Hattie Pearl Carson. Dick will be forever remembered by his surviving siblings Bertha Dill, Mary Banfield, and Ralph (Ike) and Juanita Carson, beloved children Rick Carson, Ron and Diane Carson, Rob Carson, Mike and Jody Carson, Jana and Mark Hopkins, Jim and Cindy Carson,17 treasured Grandchildren, and 9 treasured Great Grandchildren. Dick loved his family, rebuilding car engines, telling stories with good friends, and in retirement loved to mow and work on projects. He touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor throughout his life.
