JOHN WILLIAM GERSNA, 60, of Syracuse, NY, formerly of Bergholz, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2007 in the Syracuse VA Hospital. He was a grounds keeper at Town Isle Golf Course, Kirkville, NY and was a Vietnam era veteran of the US Air Force. He attended the old Bergholz School until moving to Pottery Addition where he then attended Steubenville Big Red after which he lived in Syracuse, NY. He was born in Bergholz, OH, November 22, 1947. He is preceded in death by his mother, Dona Rowe Champion who died April, 2007. He is survived by his father, John Gersna of Bergholz, by his step-father, Del Champion of Irondale, two sons, John D. Gersna and John W. Gersna, Jr., his companion, Patricia Miller, two daughters, Christine (Mark) Saylor and Hilary E. Cluley Gersna, all of the Syracuse, NY area, by a brother, Scott (Glenda) Champion, Hammondsville, OH, a sister, Cathy (Bob) Rawson, Toronto, and 3 grandchildren. Services for John will be held at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 285 Second St., Bergholz, 2PM Saturday, December 15, 2007 with Pastor Rob Rowe officiating.
