John E. Pesta, Sr., 84, of Wintersville , Ohio passed away July 11, 2011 in Lifeline Hospital , Wintersville , Ohio .

He was born August 17, 1926 , in Mingo Junction , Ohio , a son of the late Andrew and Susan Marcinak Pesta. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his son, Joseph Pesta; a daughter, Judy Schrader and 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

John served his country in WWII as part of the United States Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Post 557 in Wintersville and VFW in Follansbee , WV . He retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel after 38 years. He was a member of the Steel Valley Antique Car Club and the Mingo Jct. Sportsman Club.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Betty Marie Jones; sons, John Jr. of Wintersville, Frank (Irene) of Iowa, Steven (Susan) of Bloomingdale, and Jeffrey (Merrilee) Pesta of Wintersville; daughters, Patricia Wentworth of Delaware, and Amy (Ron) Reasoner of Bergholz; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, and 1 brother, Paul of Cincinnati.

Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd. , Wintersville on Wednesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM where funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday.

Burial will follow at Ft. Steuben Burial Estates.
