Obituary

John "Bob" Robert Ramsey, Sr., 85, of Richmond , Ohio passed away August 4, 2011 in Lifeline Hospital , Wintersville , Ohio due to complications following surgery.

He was born July 15, 1926 , in Richmond , Ohio , a son of the late William and Carrie Hendricks Ramsey. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by brothers, David and Merrill Ramsey.

John was a lifelong farmer.  He was commonly known as "The Egg Man", having sold fresh eggs and produce door to door in Steubenville and Wintersville. John also worked at Lowe's since its opening, maintaining "Isle 13" the small hardware isle.

John is a 1944 graduate of Jefferson Union High School where he excelled in varsity basketball.

He was a member and Elder of the Lighthouse Presbyterian Church in Richmond . He was also a member of Farm Bureau, County Cousins , Farm Bureau Council; he served on the Soil and Water Conservation Board, a life member of Cross Roads RC & D, and has served on Jefferson Landmark Board of Directors.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty Jo-Ann Krinke Ramsey; sons, John R. Ramsey, Jr. (Suzanne) of Richmond, James "Jim" (Pamela) Raymond Ramsey of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, David "Jerry" Raymond Ramsey of Wintersville, and Jeffery "Jeff" Donald Ramsey of Rwanda, Africa; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer Ramsey of The Plains, Ohio, Betsy (Freddy) Jones of East Springfield, Sarah (Sam) Matheny of Lancaster, Ohio, Emily (Donny) Moore of Richmond, Rachelle (Mathew)  Shaffer of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Zachiah (Renee) Ramsey of Memphis,  Tennessee, and William Ramsey of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; 4 great grandchildren, Frederick Jones VI, Cole and Madeline Matheny, and Wesley Moore; brothers, Paul (Catherine) Ramsey and Family of Louisville, Ohio, and Georgia (Merrill) Ramsey of Richmond.

Visitation for John will be Sunday at the Lighthouse Presbyterian Church, Richmond from 2-4 PM and 5-7 PM. Funeral services will be at 7 PM at the church.

Private burial will take place at Ft. Steuben Burial Estates.
