John F. "Jack" Rhine, Sr., 77, of Steubenville, OH, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2007 in the Valley Hospice Pallative Care Unit, Steubenville following a courageous battle with cancer. He retired as an electrician from Weirton Steel in 1983 and was a US Navy Korean War veteran. He was a member of the Bell Chapel United Methodist Church and was one of the primary carpenters who built the Bell Chapel Church. Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman and avid reader, especially of westerns.
He was born October 17, 1929 in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late Drummond and Ruby Mae (Chidester) Rhine. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Robert and a sister, Donna Edwards.
He married Laura A. LeVelle August 23, 1952 who survives. They are the parents of John F. Rhine, Jr. and wife Sonja of Toronto, Joy Polen and husband Rick of Steubenville, Connie Hoobler and husband Craig of Steubenville and Sally Toth and husband Mike of Reynoldsburg, OH; 8 grandsons and 2 great-granddaughters.
Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main St., Richmond Thursday, August 30 from 5 until 9 PM and again on Friday, August 31 at the Bell Chapel Methodist Church, 3419 St. Rt. 213, Steubenville from 11 AM until time of services at 1 PM with the Reverends Jeff Proya and Jason Elliott officiating.
