JOHN R. SMITH, 54, of Richmond, OH, passed away Friday evening, April 6, 2007 in the TMCW emergency room following an apparent heart attack. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. He was born in Steubenville, OH, February 18, 1953, a son of the late Harry John and Annabelle (Bolitho) Smith. He is also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Patrick, William and James Smith and 2 sisters, Anna Ross and Shirley Smith. He is survived by 4 children, Joshua D. Smith and Heather (Dan) Shaffer, both of Richmond and their mother, Penney VanKirk of Wintersville, John (Melanie) Cross of Steubenville and Jamie (Glenn) Snider of Brilliant; by 8 grandchildren, Beaux, Wayne, Noah, Stephen, Katlynn, Glenn, Mary Grace, Gauge and Mavrick; by 4 sisters, Mary Blanchard and Margaret (David) Buchanan, both of Brilliant, Sue (Ron) Carman, Hopedale and Linda (Robert) Tullis, Gillette, WY; and several nieces and nephews including James and Elizabeth Smith of Richmond. Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main St., Richmond Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM where funeral services will be held at 8 PM Monday with Pastor Jack Ernest officiating.
