Joseph "Joe" Stephen Buchmelter, 73, of Wintersville, Ohio, passed away March 8, 2022. He was born December 26, 1948 in Steubenville, Ohio. Son of the late Joseph I. Buchmelter and Vivian (DiAntonio) Buchmelter.

He graduated from Madonna High School in 1967. Joe worked at Weirton Steel for 32 years and was a member of the Original Fantasies for 30+ years playing the base guitar. He was also an original member of the band Wild Cherry.

Joe is survived by his wife of 34 years, Debra (Davis) Buchmelter; his sons, Joseph (Christina) Buchmelter Jr., Stephen Buchmelter, and step-son Bobby (Ami) Mitchell; his daughters, Christine (Peter) Giampolo, and Carolyn (Larry) Buchanan; his brothers, Regis (Jodie) Buchmelter, Brendan Buchmelter, and Timothy (Penne) Buchmelter; his sister, Marion (Earl) Mayle; and grandchildren, Alexis, Jacob, Leigha, Karli, Taylor, Peter, and Kendall.

Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd., Wintersville, Ohio for calling hours on Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 3-5 P.M., 7-9 P.M. and 10 A.M. on Friday morning, March 11, 2022 before the service at 11 A.M.  with Rev. Jason Elliott officiating.
