Joseph W. Lipan, 87, of Wintersville, OH, passed away April 9, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

The family would like to extend thanks to Charity Hospice staff for their care and kindness.

He was born July 1, 1928 in Weirton, WV, a son of the late Joseph and Helen (Apach) Lipan.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Lofland.

Joseph served his country in the United States Army. He worked for 36 years for National Steel and retired in 1984. He was a member of the Weirton VFW Post 2716.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gloria M. (Hanrahan) Lipan; children, Vicki (Richard) Hirkala of Weirton, WV and Larry Lipan of Wintersville, OH; sister, Helen (Robert) Flowers of Wheeling, WV; grandchildren, Joseph Lipan, Natalie Hirkala (Cole Petrelle), Matthew Hirkala, and Corey Hirkala (Samantha Gabage); and great grandchild, Ella Woodard.

Private services will be held for Joseph at Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, Wintersville.

A private burial at Ft Steuben Burial Estates will be held at the convenience of the family.
