Kathleen A. Burton's Obituary

Kathleen “Kathy” Burton

With hearts full of love and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Kathleen “Kathy” Burton, who left this world peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the age of 68. Kathy lived a life defined by love, warmth, and quiet strength. She was the kind of person who made others feel instantly at ease. Someone whose presence brought comfort, whose laughter filled a room, and whose care for others never went unnoticed. Kathy was a truly beautiful soul, radiant both inside and out. To know her was to feel truly loved.

Born on August 24, 1957, Kathy was the daughter of Connie Bish and the late Walter Swearingen. She was also the loving sister of Walter Swearingen Jr. and the late Judy Senich. Kathy was the beloved wife of George N. Burton with whom she shared 43 wonderful years of marriage, filled with love, partnership, and countless cherished memories.

Kathy was a proud and loving mother to Jeremy (Melissa) Ely, Jason (MaryAnn) Ely, Rebecca (Jay) Burton, and Jamie (Sherry) Burton. She was a deeply devoted grandmother to Bella, Landen, Myla, Aidan, Hannah, Michael, Abbiegail, Kaeleigh, Jesse, and Corey, who were the light of her life. She was also a cherished great-grandmother to Lakota, Brantley, Oliver, Noelle, Kieran, River, Grant, Silas, and Jace, who filled her heart with even more love.

Kathy will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her kindness, and her loving heart. She found joy in life’s simple and beautiful moments, especially cooking for those she loved, tending to her garden filled with her gnomes, and reading. Whether she was preparing a meal, caring for her plants, or lost in a good book, she created spaces filled with comfort, care, and tremendous love. She found her greatest happiness in time spent with her family and friends. Those moments, full of laughter and togetherness, will forever be treasured.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in the countless memories, laughter, and love she leaves behind. Her spirit will live on in every life she touched, in every lesson she taught, and in the love she shared so freely. Kathy’s memory will forever be a guiding light, inspiring all of us to live with kindness, warmth, and generosity, just as she did.

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places… I go to prepare a place for you.”

Friends will be received for visitation at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Road, Wintersville, Ohio, on Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 5-8 P.M. A funeral service will be held the following day, Friday, April 10, 2026, at the funeral home at 11 A.M. with Pastor Bill Westling officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Union Cemetery.
